Set Up:
There are 9-12 players set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. To begin the drill, one attacker and one defender enter the penalty area. The Feeder then passes the ball right or left to a second attacker, who turns to goal and plays the ball into the penalty area. From there, play continues 2v1 to completion. If the defender wins the ball he can score in two small goals set up outside of the penalty area. Upon completion, the Feeder re-starts play with the next set of attackers and defenders.
Coaching Points:
1. After receiving, hold the defender off and play it backwards in order to create the 2v1.
2. The supporting player should look for the overlap run after the entry pass.
3. Make checking runs away from the ball in order to create enough space to receive in the penalty area.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 2v2 (1v2 in the penalty area), and then 3v2 (2v2 in the penalty area).
