Set Up:

There are 10-12 players set up on the small split field, playing 1v1 in each half, with players starting at the cones. The Feeder begins play with a pass in to the attacker, and the defender releases with his first touch. From there, the attacker tries to dribble the ball over the midfield line. If the defender wins the ball, he tries to dribble it out over the end line. When the ball is played out of touch, the Feeder re-starts play with the next pair. During the drill, both sides of the field are active, and the players alternate between the attacking and defending lines.

Coaching Points:

1.  Take the first touch away from the defender to create even more time and space.

2.  If the defender takes a bad angle to the ball, touch it past him and run by.

3.  Use dribbling and feinting moves to slow down the defender’s approaching run.

Progressions:

1.  Progress to 2v2.

2.  Dribble thru a midfield gate.
