Four Shots with Reactions
Four Shots with Reactions
Set Up:
The area is 30 x 30, with goals either side of the field. Two teams of four finish against two GKs.
- Four x 5 minute games, with both teams finishing twice.
- One team will act as servers for the others team.
- The attackers/shooters start play in the middle of the manequins.
- The servers are numbered (1-4) and they decide which order they will pass the ball into the striker. As soon as a shot is taken, the next ball can be served in. After the striker has struck his four balls, the next player comes on.
Teaching Topics:
- Try to recognise when to strike the ball first time and when to take an additional touch (based on ball speed, angle of pass in)
- Try to take shots with your weaker foot (extra points for these goals)
- Can you try to recognise what type of shot to take (based on GK's position, your first touch, an instep finish or laces, a lob (GK off his line)
- Try to play with "light feet" and "low centre of gravity"
Scoring:
One point for goal
Two points for "weaker foot" goal
Three additional points for scoring four in a row.
Five added points for "goal of the day". GKs decide this.
Progressions:
- Vary delivery for volleys/headers
- Add a defender outside of the central area.
