Wall Passes in Fives
Wall Passes in Fives
Set Up:
Part One: To begin the drill, Player 1 looks to combine with Player 2 or 3, as Player 4 comes to the ball as a passive defender. Player 1 walls with Player 2 (he can also choose Player 3), and then passes the ball up to Player 5.
Part Two: After passing, Player 1 goes to the ball and plays passive defense. Player 5 dribbles at the passive defender and then combines with Player 2 or 3. After the wall pass, Player 5 passes up to Player 4 and becomes the passive defender, continuing the pattern. Every 30-60 seconds, the players rotate to new positions.
Coaching Points:
1. Decision Making – Get the defender to come at you by attacking him with the dribble.
2. Speed of Play – Accelerate after making the first pass and run past the defender.
3. Support Play – The wall player should set up slightly behind the defender, and out of his field of vision.
Progressions/Regressions:
Progression 1 – All players are limited to one touch.
