Pass and Move Into 3v1
Pass and Move Into 3v1
Set Up:
16 players are split into four groups of four, with one player stationed in each square. The groups pass from square to square, with two groups passing clockwise while the other two pass counter-clockwise. On the coach’s signal, the groups return to their home square with their ball. The LAST player to return home goes into the square to the right to defend a 3v1. When a defender wins the ball, he can switch out with a teammate, and the 3v1 resumes.
After 3-5 minutes of 3v1, the four teams go back to Part One of the drill (on the coach’s signal).
Coaching Points:
1 Receiving – Don’t hide in traffic. Show yourself
2 Speed of Play – Play in aone and two touch rhythm.
3 Communication – Call for the ball and get your teammate to pick his head up before passing.
4 Transition – Anticipate changes of possession and move first.
Progressions:
1 – On a signal, each team contracts into a “home square” and continues passing. On the next signal, they expand out again.
