4v2 to Goal, #2
4v2 to Goal, #2
Set Up:
There are 13 players set up in the attacking third, playing 4v2 inside the central grid, and 2v2 inside of the penalty area. Two flank players start at the cones. The attackers in the grid maintain possession versus the two defenders. When the defenders win the ball, they get a free pass into the penalty area. When the ball is played in, the flank players release from the cones and go to goal, creating a 4v2. Upon completion, The Feeder restarts play inside of the grid and the flank players return to the cones. During the drill, the players rotate to all of the attacking and defending positions.
Coaching Points:
1. Anticipate a change of possession and start moving before your opponent does.
2. Maintain or increase the speed of the attack when you are numbers up.
3. Lay the ball off to an open player rather than trying to turn on a defender.
Progressions:
1. A defender crosses over with the pass, creating a 4v3.
