Dealing with shot from side, distribution and, 1v1

Equipment; balls and cones

Start with a shot from the side. The goalkeeper deals with the shot and distributes the ball to the attacker on the 18. The attacker quickly dribbles to the goal for 1v1. Must score in six seconds. The goalkeeper deals with the 1v1. Make it game realistic.

Focus Points:

  • Proper execution of dealing with a shot, falling and diving.

  • Proper technical execution of passing and receiving and distribution.

  • Positioning and movement in the goal.

  • Proper technique of dealing with a 1v1 situation:

  • When to attack the ball and when to be patient and delay the attacker. Take control of the situation.

  • Attack quickly or be patient.

  • When going to the left, the last large step should be with the left foot. When going to the right, the last large step should be with the right foot.

  • Bring hands to the ball with stretched out arms.

  • Fall on your side and either keep the ball out or secure it on the chest.

  • Keep your head tucked in to protect your face until the attacker is out of the way.

  • Show courage.
