Topic:

1v1, Dribbling and Feinting

Explanation:

Defenders run the line between two cones. Attackers try to get past. Fun and competitive exercise and be sure to have the size of the gates appropriate to the players you are working with. It may be an idea for younger players you can add some gates with no defenders so they can practice and be comfortable doing skills in empty gates before trying to go past a defender.

Coaching Points:

  • Competition drives quality, perhaps keep score in a time limit. 1 point for going through an empty gate, 3 for going through one past a defender

  • Approach the defender with close control and small touches

  • Quickly exaggerate and change direction to unbalance and then run past the defender, a bigger touch may be needed but not too big that you will lose control at the other side of the gate

This practice can be easily adapted for passing and turning. Pass to a player in the gate who will receive to leave the gate in the other direction and the player who passed goes into the gate to work on receiving and turning next.

Players Required:
12-20
